| Meet Your Equipment at Destination | |
| Sometimes it is better to spend your time at your destination rather than getting there. Prepare your equipment at meet it there. It can be surprisingly cheap. We have seen rates as low as $400 to Europe off the East Coast. | |
| Freighters Go Everywhere | |
| We were heading up the US East Coast and decided it would be much more fun to be in Europe. You can ship just about anything and a 4x4 can go in a "Roll on - Roll off" freight for not that much money. Think of it as a large ferryboat. We found one that left Jacksonville FL and docked in Amsterdam. | |
| Containerized Freight | |
| If you are unable to find a Ro-Ro ship, you can always ship your equipment in a 20' container. You will need help blocking and bracing but you can also keep all your equipment ready to go. If you ship by Ro-Ro freighter, don't store anything of value in the vehicle, theft is rampant on those boats. | |
| Finding a Freight Company | |
| It is usually best to find a freight broker that is familiar with shipping cars. A lot of used cars are exported from the US. This is one of the cheapest places in the world to buy used cars even with the dollar as strong as it is. Check with local car auction houses and look in the "cars for sale" magazines. You should be able to find one easily. | |
